Buhari joins Islamic Coalition

President Muhammadu Buhari has registered Nigeria in the Islamic coalition against terrorism which was <a href="http://pulse.ng/local/buhari-see-photos-of-president-in-saudi-arabia-id4719941.html">launched by Saudi Arabia</a>.
Buhari made the disclosure during a recent interview with Al Jazeera in Qatar.
“We are part of it because we’ve got terrorists in Nigeria that everybody knows which claim that they are Islamic. So, if there’s an Islamic coalition to fight terrorism, Nigeria will be part of it because we are casualties of Islamic terrorism," the president said.
Buhari also spoke on the opposition against Nigeria’s involvement in the group.
“Why can’t those Christians that complained go and fight terrorism in Nigeria or fight the militancy in the South. It’s Nigeria that matters, not the opinion of some religious bigots,” he said
“How can I change the religious identity of Nigeria? No religion advocates hurting the innocent and just because the Muslims are the ones that claim to be Boko Haram and they are killing innocent people whether in the church, in the bus or in the market place, then I will just sit and look at them because I too am a Muslim? Islam is against injustice in any form,” he added.
Earlier reports had it that Buhari <a href="http://pulse.ng/local/buhari-president-says-nigeria-won-t-join-islamic-alliance-against-terrorism-id4724259.html">had declined the offer to join the group</a>during a meeting with Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz in Riyadh.
“Even if we are not a part of it, we support you,” the president was quoted as saying.
“I must thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the recent creation of a coalition to address the menace of international terrorism. Nigeria will support your efforts in keeping peace and stopping the spread of terror in your region,” he supposedly added.
The invitation <a href="http://pulse.ng/local/fani-kayode-ex-minister-backs-fayose-warns-against-islamization-of-nigeria-id4746700.html">had attracted controversy</a> due to Nigeria’s secular status as against the Islamic nations which are expected to join the group.

The General's Purge

Change they say, is the only thing constant. The history of Nigeria has witnessed it's own episodes of political and social changes as a nation. Particularly in the political setting which happens to be the most interesting scene of the change episodes of a 55 year old nation. Stories have unfolded and told, governments have emerged and transited. Of all the change story,  none was as interesting as the change of 29th May, 2015. 
The emergence of a new political dispensation under the umbrella of 
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria is historic. For the first time, power transited from incumbency to the opposition. With  slogans of "change"  ranting the air, the Buhari's Administration set in a new motion. Yes of course it set in change because change is the only thing constant. So it is a change that a General took over from a civilian. But striking as the changes occur, is the ongoing " General's Purge" in the country. 
Before his inauguration as the president, General Buhari made it clear on his stand on corruption. It was a distinct red light to all corrupt office holders. On assuming the office, the purge started. A strict implementation of the law on corrupt public servants more than has ever happened in Nigeria. Corrupt officials were brought to face the law. Of interesting of all is the Arms Deal Probe, ranging from list of all the benefactors of "Dasuki Gate". 
For whatever reason people may say concerning the probing of public fund and officials, the General's purge has instilled an extent of fear in government officials at different sectors. Nigeria is driving back to sanity. At least that's one change that is obvious. 
So when next you think of the APC "Change"  slogan, think of the "General's Purge"
